Places to visit
The Lost Garden Retreat is situated near the Suffolk Essex border which is home to many nearby beautiful and iconic chocolate box towns and villages. Some of these include our neighbouring town of Hadleigh which is just a 10 minute drive away, and further along others such as Kersey, Bildeston, Lavenham and Sudbury. Head in the other direction for the iconic Constable countryside that is Flatford and Dedham.
If you enjoy the coast, Suffolk boasts some of East Anglia’s most beautiful coastlines. Head to Woodbridge for its Tide Mill and surrounding coastal walks along the Deben estuary. It also has a lovely town which is just a 5 minute walk from the river with many independent shops and cafes.
Head to Thorpeness for incredible walks along the cliffs or stony beach and see if you can spot the house in the clouds. This is then only a walk away from Aldeburgh for awesome Fish & Chips which people come far and wide for. Along the beach you will find local fish merchants and fishermen selling their freshly caught fish. You can also book sailing trips from Aldeburgh Yacht Club and keep an eye out for key dates such as the Aldeburgh Carnival each August.
Further north you will find the beautiful Southwold & Walberswick sandy beaches. Southwold itself is home to some of The Lost Garden Retreat family and Suffolk’s infamous Adnams brewery.
