Suffolk Foodhall
Sat Nav IP9 2AB
18 mins drive away in Wherstead towards Ipswich
www.suffolkfoodhall.co.uk
This is our favourite farm shop and people with children flock here for the bouncy pillow and a coffee or ice cream whilst overlooking the views of the River Orwell. There is also a fabulous farm shop offering many of Suffolk’s local produce and then theres the rather chic boutique lifestyle shop to potter round, aswell as a coffee shop.
You can even dine at the Cookhouse restaurant for breakfast lunch or dinner – there is generally always a table to spare. Tip: Book ahead for a table by the window for the best views. (See website for more of what’s going on at different times in the Cookhouse).
Aldercarr Farm
Sat Nav IP6 8LX
21 mins drive away in Needham Market
www.aldercarrfarm.co.uk
This lovely farm shop was once home to one of the founders of The Lost Garden Retreat Richard’s Aunty Nicky. Now this pretty little spot is passionate about selling fresh, local and seasonal produce. They stock a wide range of fairtrade, vegetarian and vegan products, and kitchen & bathroom essentials, including no-packaging refills.
They also make their own multi-award winning ice-cream on the farm, which they produce under the name Alder Tree.
It’s simply delicious and put it this way if they exhibit at any local show we always appear to gravitate towards this stand!

Farm Trail
Hall Farm’s Trail provides a fantastic opportunity to interact with farm animals, take in the beautiful surroundings and look at an array of vintage machinery. With plenty of seating and space for picnics by the ponds as well as various activities for children, it makes for a perfect family day out. And it’s FREE. You can purchase animal feed in both the shop and the snack shack (when open) with the Alpacas being particularly partial to a nibble.
Café Restaurant
An old cattle byre was transformed into the warm and elegant Cafe Restaurant they have at Hall Farm today. Whether it is for breakfast, morning coffee, a light bite, a more leisurely 3 course lunch, or afternoon there is something to suit everyone.
Situated in the heart of the Dedham Vale you can take in the idyllic views across constable country.
